Been reading “Fast Company” online.
Love that magazine and they’ve got a great website, easy to get around and visually stimulating.
Anyways, I came across this article “Social Networking and the Brain: Continuous Partial Empathy?” that’s really caught my attention.
Last summer I gave up using my Blackberry for the very same reasons(cons) this article talks about, unfortunately my life now REQUIRES that I’m pretty much glued to it.
(And when I’m not with it, I feel like a limb has been hacked and I’m sure I must “twitch” etc. etc. It’s really quite stupid!)
I’ve always wondered about how the age of “technological wackness” is effecting our ability to actually “take people in.”
It’s funny I’m talking about this on a “blog”.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m feeling that maybe blogs really are the way to accomplish (really paying attention to people and events) vs Twitter/Facebook/Flckr etc. etc.
(I.E. Social Networks that are actually inspiring “Social Numbness”).
